Improving the relationship with your brain

In spite of the name, ADHD is not a focus deficit. ADHDers have a ton of focus, it just may not be directed toward the assignments that are due, the dishes in the sink or that email you should have sent yesterday. From the outside looking in, it can look like you or your student really don’t care about the important things. But that is far from the truth.

ADHD brains are different: we have an entirely different operating system. One that thrives in high-stress environments, shines with high stakes and breaks down in monotony. You are not broken, or stupid or unworthy because your race car brain with bicycle brakes doesn’t work like you want it to. You work differently, not incorrectly.
